I've never paid more for a hairless rat than any other rat, really. Though I know some stores charge much more for them because they're "rare"-- even though they're not. I have three hairless. One was with another hairless from a shoddy place so I don't know his origins.
The other two were from litters that I saw the siblings of. If the mother or father has a history of rex/double rex lines, they'll more than likely produce hairless babies. They have hair when they're born and it usually falls out, but you can usually tell easily if they're going to be a double rex.
I'm going to guess you'll pay between $12-$15, depending on where you buy from.
I've never seen a "true" hairless, which is a different mutation than a "double rex" which is what my hairless boys are. :P
