HA! I actually managed to make a good pic of Ukiki! Been trying to draw her properly for AGES now! Never been as pleased with my pics of her as I am with my Tiny pics...

...which is funny because everyone keeps commenting on how much she looks like Tiny Kong! XD Heck this picture was ORIGINALLY going to be her pondering the question "I'm not THAT unoriginal am I?!" but I figured lengthy tracts about character inspiration don't belong in the pictures...they belong in the comments!

So yeah, I had been playing Skyrates, an online Flash game with furry characters (http://skyrates.net) and gravitated towards the female monkey character despite GENERALLY being a fan of bunnies and mics and whatnot (was gonna main a squirrel since neither bunnies nor mice are an option). As you also know, I'm quite a fan of the awesomely redesigned Tiny Kong and have personally commissioned...probably 75% of all the Tiny Kong fanart in the world! XD Well...75% of the non-inflation stuff anyway (EGAD VIRUS-20! SERIOUSLY!). Then you couple THAT with the fact that I like Sonson and that I keep track of all female renditions of Wu Kong/Son Goku/The Monkey King and was considering writing a fanfic about them teaming up (Sonson (MvC2/Son Son), Son Karin (Gowcaizer), Yuan Nang (Gunbird), Meimei (Shin Chuuka Taisen/The Monkey King (Wii), and Son Karin (Angel Blade...we're counting her as separate))...

...

...it's at THAT point that I realize: I really like monkey girls. Huh. (Shoot I just started a Monkey Gals group on DA!)

So I was thinking about making my own monkey OC and realized I had already started what with having my Skyrates character and all! So I made the decision to flesh out said Skyrates character, Ukiki. At the same time, I LOVE pigtails and one thing that always annoyed me was how you can't really put pigtails on a furry because they clash with the ears usually.

So, I sat down and thought about what all my favorite monkey features were at the time:

I HAD to have the "monkey sideburns" every monkey-esque anime character has.

Goggles were a MUST (common anime character item I like AND she is a pilot).

I've loved hoop earrings since Reiko Nagase sported them in R4.

The baggy pants with exposed underwear was inspired by the main character of the crappy PS1 fighter VS.

I *ALWAYS give characters wide hips. (I like big butts and I cannot lie!)

Meanwhile the big breasts and lipstick were inspired by Supernitro's rendition of Candy Kong.

Meanwhile the pigtails came from a sketch of my Tiny Kong commission from Jaeh (they looked AMAZING but they were inaccurate so I had him make them longer) as did the way the breasts pop out of her top.

The way the pigtails curl was probably subconsciously inspired by Coco Bandicoot and her thickness and slight muscularity were probably inspired by Candy from Bust a Move Dance Summit 2001 (whom I had just been thinking would look awesome as a monkey).

Hair COLOR was...well...difficult. Couldn't decide between blonde or red so I went with orange.

Oh and the spikey hair? Shoot I just love drawing a spikey forelock! XD

So...that's Ukiki...and every time she shows up someone says "She looks like Tiny Kong" XD C'mon guys! A Tiny/Candy fusion at LEAST! Then again I might just be selfconscious about it because the first time I tried to commission a picture of her it...didn't go well...at all. Probably the worst commissioning experience I have ever had. Really made me appreciate everyone else so much more, especially Luvon/Lovely Dagger, Crica, and Winstar! Ah well...
