Ahhh, fond memories. Sometimes I wish I still had my RC gear. Then I remember how much I actually used it compared to the amount of time (and money) repairing it. Expensive hobby.

How much battery time does that have? I always owned the gas powered ones they go super fast. I agree though it was an expensive hobby. Looks like fun!

I never got more than 15 minutes out of a battery.

Actually ive never used a RC10 before all my previous cars were el cheapo. the 7.2v battery would get me about 15-20 run on a charge. never had the chance to the moneys to buy and build a Cox buggy. the only cox run was a helicopter. It was great fun.

Is the drive controlled with a digital controller?

Yes its a good idea, the old AM systems (I can tell from your receiver) were ok in its day but are now susceptible to interference from other scorces now, and cannot be used with today's digital servos and most speed controls. oh and while it's not impossible, it is getting difficult to find parts for this version of the 10T, the transmission is basically still in production from Team Associated and you should still be able to find arms for it from newer cars but things like the chassis, servo saver, shock innards and the like are difficult to find however you still can use the updated shocks from the new T on it and be careful about the Speed control the old Futaba MC210 series is a Brushed motor only sport speed control and has a somewhat limited turn limit (How many turns of wire in the motor, the lower the turns the faster and higher current the motor is) and exceeding the limit will severely damage if not destroy the the ESC I suggest a new Radio system and possibly a brushless motor system as well since I'm not sure if the 210 will like the new digital radios. Anyway I hope you get it running soon :)

any suggestions as to what systems to look into?

Arn't we all, as far as a radio, the Futaba 2PL is a good 2.4 radio to go for if you are planning on just having fun and staying simple, you can pick that radio up for less than 100 dollars if you shop now if you want to go for something a little more advanced in the future I recommend the Futaba 3PM-X. the ESC I would get in a system Castle makes an decent system and Novak has a ballistic system in an 13.5 which will be MORE than enough for the 10T you have go to A-main hobbies that's where I get most of my stuff. Also consider new batteries too while the Trinity Zip pack is ok if it will hold a charge you may be looking at a 10 min run time, also did this come with a charger?

I have a charger for the nicad 7.2 packs I actually own 2 working Black wolf Radio shack cars but they got to be a hassle and not as much fun they have been in the closet for some time now. but i have the packs form them and the chargers as well. But i do under stand that that i will want to upgrade to a LiPo pack and charger eventually.

Yes you do for the RC10T. I've been in RC for 30 years so I've seen a lot of things come and go. My first RC car was the original Tamyia Sand Scorcher that I got in 1981, plus I've had many RC airplanes.
