All gryphons are predators. Some are just more feral about it then others. And accepting or not, feral predator -> civilized society can be a really big problem.

Retroactively, I'm curious: Was this fellow an early design for the Tropica griffins? He looks very much like a Verreaux's Eagle griffin.

I probably used that design as a base, but the commission was unrelated to the books (seeing as they hadn't been published at that point!)

Oh, I know, at that point they were a muse's twinkle, though my wording above kinda sucked.
He just looks like a prototype of what would become a Tropica griffin.

(ETA: It's too bad the Tropicas we met were almost all nogoodniks. Verreux's Eagle is a beautiful bird of prey).
