The reason I know is because I am fascinated by the Japanese Samurai and the history of Medieval Japan. About the great warlords like Oda Nobunaga and Takeda Shingen, about warriors like Miyamoto Musashi and the whole aura surrounding the Samurai warrior.
Plus, I intend to complete my samurai outfit soon; so knowing what each garment piece is called is vital, specially if you are buying everything directly from Japan, like I am.

During the Edo period with the Tokugawa clan.

Oh don't worry, it'll get colored. I'm anxious to see how my old and new color schemes work with them.
I've had old ones for a few of these guys, and some I've changed and, in my mind, look superbly superfly.
...but as we all know, if you say something in your head, it sometimes sound so good with the words in the coming out of the mouth phase...
