The links aren't working. Nice cosplay, the only fail is in MGS1 Snake was using a Heckler and Hock Mark 23 .45, not a M-9

In Twin Snakes they added the M9 since they wanted to allow the kill free play through from MGS2. Heckler and Koch, or simply HK MK.23 .45 SOCOM was the original versions main and most memorable pistol though.

yes, im aware. and i have the HK usp .45 as well as an hk mk. 23 AND the F1 FA-MAS

the issue is that because this was an international con, their rules are that for firearms or gun looking weapons, "it cannot be able to fire nor have ever previously been able to fire"

so i went to walmart, bought a realistic toy gun which happened to look like an berretta m9, painted it black, and attatched the laser i have on my HK USP .45 to it.

it worked and people were happy. so was i.

u are mostly correct. the hk mk 23 is the most iconic. however technically, twin snakes is non canon.

as for mgs2 kojima asked for a new gun to symbolize the moderning of the game, so they went with the usp .45 tactical due to it being the successor of the legendary mk. 23

also socom is a name given to it only for those who are of military use. a civy mk. 23 is merely a mk. 23 unless stated otherwise. its a sad fact.

thankfully its still an amazing gun regardless. lol

USP Tactical is known as the "Poor mans SOCOM". It does not have all the features of the MK.23 but it does allow the use of a suppressor like the MK.23, but not the one for the MK.23. International rules are rather stingy indeed. You should see how difficult it is to own a firearm in Germany, even when stationed there we had strict rules. Thankfully they had some airsoft guns that met the requirements so guys would get those and we would do barracks wars. :P

Never got to play through TS but here I thought it was merely an updated and better graphics version of MGS1. What was they changed to make it non canon?

oddly enough its only about 300 bucks cheaper. hardly a poor mans mk 23. its even used by navy seals. :3



thats what i thought too. but i they ruined the alternate ending things that mgs1 allowed.

also, its non canon because they modified allot of the dialogue and the way that the game plays out is extremely different too sadly. :\
