HISTORY:
In the earlier days of the Azverian Combine, there was a need for a faster, more fire-power intensive pursuit vehicle. The Kelshivan was the answer for such a ship. Where the Mantenvan was a powerful multi-role escort and defense platform frigate, the Kelshivan was designed for a much more offensive, "hit and run" approach. The refined, Mark III version of the Kelshivan is used similarly, now fitted with even heavier armoring, weaponry, and systems. For a ship design thats more than 300 years old, it still shows amazing prowess in maneuverability and firepower.

Not Necessarily. This is a Frigate vessel. While it may be fast, its still too large to fill the roles of fighter craft. Fighters are generally reserved for Cruisers and Capital ships, with Cruisers generally only having a small bay for either a few wings (3 fighter craft is equal to a wing) of fighters or bombers, or a wing or two of both, with Capital ships being true, absolute carriers, capable of holding tens of both kind of wings. Then there are the Super Capitals. Those are generally reserved for specialized siege missions, or used as mobile shipyard platforms.
