I don't know how many of you were aware that today is the 2nd Annual Draw-a-Centaur Day, but here it is. I've always liked centaurs, but I never really draw them because horse anatomy is difficult. And when I search for centaurs on FA, they're like 95% either girls or young pretty boys, so I wanted a gruff daddy viking centaur dammit. ~>3
Tried out some new things with a restricted color palette here; no, he's not really pink and purple, that's the lighting.

I usually don't see too many centaurs around. The only prominent times I recall seeing them were either Disney shorts, or Harry Potter.
That said, this is pretty damn sweet, and I'm all for burly, rugged Norse men latched into a horse's anterior. I'm enjoying the little earrings you put on the guy, and he has a good twist to his torso. I would try making his gradations of skin to fur from his man self to horse self more prominent!
Otherwise this is pleasant. Thanks for the post!

Agreed -- Manly centaurs are the best kind. ( They're also the only kind, as far as I'm concerned. Except maybe for actual centaur women. Do they have women? Or do they just sex up regular horse mares, or human women? Or each other? Or however that works. )
Great job on this. ( And he doesn't really look pink or purple to me... More like sepia? Earth tones, or something along those lines. )

Thanks! Well, the base colors I used were pink, peach, violet, and dark purple, so they are in there, but yes, the sepia look was intentional.
As for this centaur, he could have sex with a human woman or horse (though he wouldn't want to do the latter), but to actually reproduce he'd need a female centaur, since they have to mate with the human genitals first and then the horse genitals.

Oh wow -- I thought you were just joking with those tags. Don't know, the thought of a second set of man-bits is kinda weirding me out. I suppose it could have its advantages, but just thinking about the logistics of it all gives me a headache.
Do the females have an "extra set", as well?
( Also, basically he could sex up human women all day long, but they'd never get pregnant? That's convenient. )

Of course! The "human" parts mate first, and the semen is in a dormant state as it travels through internal ducts to the "horse" part's uterus. Then the "horse" parts mate, and hormones and proteins in the "horse" ejaculate activate the "human" semen and the woman centaur is impregnated.
Since centaurs require a lot of both meat and vegetation, this is an adaptation that limits them to sustainable numbers; if food is scarce, they can just do the sequence out of order and put off pregnancy while still getting the other benefits of mating.
And yeah, they can mate with humans all day and not result in a pregnancy. It's incredibly rare, but, if for some reason they wanted to, a human woman can mix the centaur's two ejaculates together and then artificially inseminate herself. If she gets pregnant from that, though, the baby is a centaun, a being with a human body and two horse legs instead of human legs, and a horse tail.
