BULLOCKS i'm doing the art school thing with clawz
this is lesson 1 with clawz. i'm gonna post it in a link on his page :3 mainly cuz i dont wanna... OH WAIT! i think i can still paste the description!
"welcome students :D
the first lesson is one of very basic shapers and of shading.
I've broken all my lessons into three levels that get harder as they go :)
you will need a piece of paper, a pencil, an eraser and if you want a ruler would be helpful.
the first part of the lesson is the sphere. you probably know this little bugger from art class. you know your teacher says to draw it then you kind of just scribble it so you can go on with class. this is the time where your going to actually spend time on it. the first step is to draw a plus shape as a guideline. from there you will create a light source. start your shading by laying down a layer of middle darkness and blending it smooth with your finger. next you will create the light areas by slowly removing the middle tone. then add to the lower areas to create the shadows. i recommend once you have the body of the shading done that you remove the outline on the area above the light source.
next up a pyramid. this one is a bit more tricky and is the first level two item. for the shading on this one the darkest areas will be against the edge that blocks the light source.
up next is what i call the dreaded doughnut. this one is made up of two circles that form a doughnut like shape. this is to test the accuracy of your shading and ability to not smear the graphite into the center of the ring. this also shows that highlights are when one a 3D surface like the doughnut all connected. the highlight area never breaks its one continuous shape. the shadows also are slightly different from the sphere. i trust if you've made it this far and are willing to study stuff in real life and even think about the object as you shade its not all together to difficult.
as the final level two item i did an infinity symbol but you can draw any 3D object that overlaps itself. the trick you need to practice on this one is the shading in areas of overlap.
okay the third and final item is a level three item. its way tougher than the rest (believe me). the glass is tricky because there is only one way to represent glass. the trick is to draw the glass without outlining it. before you freak out this doesn't mea that you cant draw the outline its just means that you have to erase them once your done. first start off by drawing the top oval that makes up the opening of the glass. the draw a slightly larger oval that surround the first and makes the lip of the glass. next the two lines that make the sides of the glass. then you make a oval for the bottom of the glass. next you need to create the interior of the glass which includes a layer on the inside of the walls. the lines you will keep for the glass are around the thinker glass and at the bottom. the highlight on the glass basically removes the entire shading and light lines of the glass,m
okay so that's about all i can fit in here for now. to take the lessons and get my help just post the drawing you did and link it to me or simply ask questions through note or through the comments section remember please that me being able to see your progress is alot easier. also please note that this takes alot of time and practice to get right so don't give up. the glass took me several tries to get it right and I'm still not entirely happy with it. also you aren't copying me on this you are simply using mine as a guide. my work is nowhere near perfect but its a good start :)
next lesson should be online next week and will be on basic character creation"
these are the words of clawz ^^^^^^^^
if you want me to describe it in my terms, ask me. whenever
i get my web cam back i'll make a "how to" video.. i'm better
at showing than describing (cuz i usually use terms like "and
now you draw the thing with the thing using your thing")
