I get so sick of doing "clean" (non-abstract) artwork sometimes.... working on the extreme chess thing, and I still got trouble drawing with the tablet and GUHHHHH, I just really felt like I needed to break away and do some scribbling cause it's fun.

hmm i always though art should be fun other wise it becomes work and loses its enjoyment to be done. Really. Even with my own photography stuff i never really wanted to make a job out of it for fear of loss of quality and well enjoyment of doing it when inspired best works are done when not limited by time
once again the overall composititon is wonderfull. i read a quote the other day about working with chalky media like charcoal or conte, the quote was something to the extent of "when you are working with charcoal you dont want to smooth everything out because it will kill the drawing, if you have a smooth greydation from light to dark there are no supprises.". this drawing is lively and full of suprises. i think another thing that keeps the veiwer looking here is the areas where you dont know exactly what it is going on. keep up the good work.
