The day after her little fugue, Zelda's parents came to pick her up.
They seemed a little nicer than usual ... at least, Mother Zumbrowski did. As usual, her father was grumpy and taciturn.
"Come ... Come back home, Zelda." Her mother said. "Dad promised that you would not be punished."
"Okay, Mom." Zelda replied in a small voice, but she looked unconvinced.
Sandra and her parents knew that the little striped skunk was in grief at the thought of returning to her own family, but what could they do?
"Can Sandra come see me sometimes?" Asked Zelda.
"Hmm ... Yes, of course ... Why not?" Said her mother, with a slightly annoyed expression.
Her eyes were were still full of sadness, but Zelda smiled.
"So, goodbye and see you soon Sandra."
"Bye, sweetie ... and don't worry, we'll see each other often!"
