Eh. I'm not 100% sure, but it may have to be that the fandom offers homosexual people comfort that real life does not? Just a guess... I presume that is another reason why people hate furries. Because, as stated, quite a few are gay and there are a lot of haters out there who have another reason to be homophobes.
