It's a prairie dog (not, as I erroniously tagged it the first time around, a groundhog). They're social, burrowing rodents that live in dry country.

huh. Coolies. :) i have not seen a groundhog in a LONG time and honestly don't remember what they look like. Grey though, I thought.

Yah, actual bona fide groundhogs are greyish-brown and look a bit more like a beaver crossed with a hamster. I dunno why this didn't occur to me when I was uploading. :P
