Nothing out of rebar, but I've dabbled in small scale chainmail work for years making bracelets, cuffs, and jewelry.

I've got a very fine sample going, although it's looked just like this for months. Yay distractions! :p http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8885025/ It's fun and challenging, but I'm more into solid fabrications myself. I love the metal! XD
