Emir Ahmad was delighted to see that his pomelo tree, a gift given to him by an oriental emissary, had finally yielded fruit. He grabed one of the scented fruits and plucked it off from the branch. He then clawed the rind of the fruit to reach into its sweet pulp, only to find that its rind was thicker than more familiar oranges and citrons.

He forced his claw deeper into the resisting rind and twisted to rip it out. Eventually, his might overwhelmed the rind, but it did not give away without one last resistance. Fragrant yet caustic liquid squirted out of the ruptured fruit and soaked the emir's eyes. Even Ahmad the mighty, the invincible general who lead his army to countless victories against sly unbelievers, could not but let out a whine under this unexpected assault.

His servants witnessed their heathen master struggling with a fruit, and a faint sneer crossed their faces. While the emir could not see, he could hear their silent chuckle too well. The emir decided that it was a fine day for some whipping; but first, he had to conquer this ridiculous fruit.
