Bear the Wandering Barbarian Wildman
His earliest memories were that of being on a boat with many children his age. They were taken far across an ocean and left on an island not populated by man but it's most dangerous of wild beasts. Taught a lullaby which was actually his people's prayer, the children took heed and tried to survive. Growing in hostile conditions every day a beast would devour a child, the weather would destroy any shelter they would make. and those that tried to escape to the see would be devoured by the serpents.
By handfuls the children who were not strong enough or smart enough died. Till the very few that killed every hungry savage animal, that endured the harshest weather, that learned from their experiences on how to survive conquered and decimated the dangers of their home. Till the four nameless children swam across the vast ocean and killed the many serpents that lurk in the murky waters below. Reaching the main land they began to wander their separated ways till they had found the strongest and as their lullaby promises. When they find the strongest, they will be allowed to come home.
In his travels in a world where Rome had thrived, in the early Germanic lands of the old European countries. The Nameless Wild man with the strength to push down mighty trees with his bare hands, found his way to a village where a roman circus was being performed. Surrounded by other travelers they watched as two roman combatants fought till the star of the circus had defeated his enemy and declared open invitation for an audience member to challenge him. Guided by his mantra, The wild man dressed in the hides of every beast he had killed accepted the challenge. And in a display that would most certainly be of humiliation. The Roman Gladiator fell to the strength of the Barbarian's bare fists against his sword and shield.
Soon after the quick victory, the Travelers were inquisitive about the Barbarian's strengths but were eager to fill their empty bellies. An old Germanic wizard in a dispute over the price of bread set fire to the vendor's cart and made off with the inventory of bread. followed by the other travelers including the nameless barbarian.
In the safety of the forest the travelers decided to follow the old wizard in payment of bread and spoils of their journey. Traveling West, and pushing down many offending trees the barbarian felt needed to be knocked down, they find a kingdom plagued by a troop of merry bandits in surrounding woods. The Lord controlling the land offered a reward to the travelers to find and capture the leader of the bandits. A quest which would prove brief and ease of success.
Entering the bandit territory, the tavelers were confronted by the surrounding criminals as the Barbarian drew attention by knocking down more trees. Their leader boasting to them to surrender their gold or their lives. Declining both options the Wildman lead by a Nordic Warrior of their group charged at the Leader. A skilled fighter to handle the nordic warrior's trained skills, but unable to handle the raw brute strength of the nameless Barbarian.
The wizard, the Gladiator, and their androgynous well groomed Greek Sphinx boy defeated the remaining bandits. Taking their captured prey, they went back to claim their reward, meeting a beautiful Nordic Milkmaid with some mythological artifacts at her disposal. Receiving a reward of gold, the Wild Man decided to be as well groomed as some of his travelers and have the years literally shaven off his body.
Following a clue given to them by the locals of the kingdom, the travelers visited upon some ruins in a cave across their heavily defended river bank. Many trees had fell to the hands of the Barbarian Entering the Cave leading to what they hope to be buried treasure, they meet an oracle astride a horse. She had received a vision of finding gods here, and joined the travelers as they ventured deeper. Finding a treasure chest which was empty. They had seemingly awakened an old lost spirit attached to the chest. Deciding to take possession of the chest and in tern the lost spirit which was tied to the empty box.
The Travelers ventured deeper but too deep and narrow for The Wild man to fit his large form through. Deciding that he could not continue the Barbarian returned to the light of the outside to protect and watch the horses. Sensing danger the Nameless Barbarian approached the source and found an old strong bear. Deciding that this was the strongest animal in the area, proceeded to with his bare hands, slay the savage bear.
Upon returning to the cave entrance, knocking down trees while dragging the broken dead body of the animal behind him for food for his fellow travelers. Who they themselves happened upon artifacts of mysterious origins. The Milk Maid was amazed at the raw power of Nameless Barbarian and decided to name him Bear for his size, strength and recent victory.
Deciding to travel south to the warm beaches of the Greek lands, The slutty Greek sphinx boy decided to call upon aid from the gods and Zeus himself appeared to take the travelers to Olympus. There the travelers were to find access to Pegasus if they were inclined. But the newly christened Bear continued to follow his mantra and found his way to find a God of strength.
Finding himself in the presence of Aries the God of War. Bear inquired of his strength. Finding amusement in the mortals ignorance offered to see Bear's strength first hand with some Greek wrestling. And with all his might Bear accomplished the impossible and was able to move the all powerful god a single step back. Impressed by this feat of power the God quickly ended the sparring to congratulate the barbarian. This ignited the ego of the previously defeated Roman Gladiator to see if he could do better and failed countless times to make the god budge even with the aid of his own patron Athena.
Finding some entertainment between the two mortals, Aries decided to offer their hearts desire for simple request. Bear's only desire was to become stronger, and was offered a pair of Godly Gauntlets dubbed by Bear himself God Hands. As well as the Gladiator requested one of the nymphs that populate the Olympus court. They would be given their rewards but the challenge that Aries would grant them was the simplest. Sack Athens.
As the other travelers had managed to find Pegasus for themselves, Bear and the Gladiator pushed the option of their journey to the beach countries of Greece by stopping at Athens. And they traveled the great distance arriving towards the city. And their first action was to dispatch the Guards of the city gates. They were defeated quite hastily as Bear had knocked down a tree and used it to decimate their large numbers.
Proving to be not as militarily powerful as their neighbors, Athens slowly fell to the raw power of the Barbarian and the skillful swordsmanship of Gladiator who wield a magic sword he had become affixed to in their previous journey to the ruins. Mowing through while the other travelers had but sat back and watched from the comfort of the only tavern left standing after the rampage.
The slaughter was delayed by a being made of both earth and tree, truly a great enemy that Bear was to face. But their wizard who had yet to reveal to his fellow travelers the real power at his disposal. Using his fire casting abilities upon the mystical earth elemental, dried out and exhausted the water coursing through it's veins till it was incapacitated. Eager to utilize the creature as a weapon much like his use in earlier battles with the trees, they resumed their conquest till they reached the temple of Athena. There they found a tree which shared many qualities of the creature that Bear had slung over his shoulder. Then proceeding as such, the powerful barbarian swung the earth elemental with all his strength and slammed it's body into the tree, source of it's power and defeating the tree menace once and for all.
This had finally severed the last link to Athena's attachment to the mortal world as her capital was destroyed. This was shown by the God Aries appearing before his two chosen champions on Athena's sacred ground and granting them their rewards. Congratulating them on depowering his rival by eliminating her source of power.
Word had spread for the two days it took to destroy the City of Athens, and the neighboring Spartans who heard word of this attack being by a Roman of the roman army, immediately gathered their forces to fight off the invading army. They would arrive to find the city nearly empty and after combing through it a small group of Spartan soldiers found Bear equipped with the mythical God Hands, questioning him and his simple-minded intelligence nearly allowed the hulking barbarian to pass. But when they asked of his gauntlets then he honestly mentioned that he was responsible for the death of thousands in Athens and proceeded to attempt an execution. Their first mistake.
Fighting off the warriors of a nation famous for their combat strength, Bear who's entire life was fighting managed to kill his attackers one by one. Having the challenge of fighting a small group of supremely trained warriors had wounded Bear to near unconsciousness from his bleeding from the many stab wounds the brawl incurred. Taking one of the spartan's shields as a prize like the many hides of the beasts that decorate his body. He waited kneeling in his own blood to recover till his fellow travelers rescued him.
Flying toward a small island they were amazed at Bear's strength and fighting ability while they helped to heal him. Telling them of his very simple life story which is but a detailed account of every beast and man that he had ever fought from first to last. They decided that they should go back to await the return of other fellow travelers that had split off from their journey at Olympus.
Heading into the Greek countryside outside of the decimated Athens. The travelers rested and waited for their companions to join them, during the night, Bear the ever vigilant survivalist watched over his companions till a disturbance worried him. Still recovering from his near fight to the death, he requested the aid of the Nordic warrior in their party to seek out what was out there. Despite trying to draw attention of the creature, Bear managed to sneak up on a powerful Centaur hunter. Who had his arrow fixed on the Nord, interrupting the mythological beasts aim, Bear inquired about the strength of the half man half horse.
What proceeded was a test of strength, first to demonstrate using the power of his new God Hand, Bear cleaved a tree in half. The Centaur almost brought to tears with laughter kicked a tree out of the ground with roots intact into the distance. Discarding their weapons a true test of combat was to follow. In a single round of combat the powerful barbarian could not match the Centaur but his skill impressed the hunter enough to earn mercy. Accepting the chance to walk away, he requested the secret to the Centaur's power in hopes of becoming stronger to fight the Hunter again. Learning that the creature's might was but carrying the heaviest stones. In what would be a promise of men, Bear shook the Centaur's hand announcing that they will test each other's strength again, this was enough for the hunter to spare the travelers and leave.
To be continued.
