There are some small ones, little patches of old estates given to the state or county. We go out to them sometimes, but just as often we get there and some uber-creepy people are lurking around in the parking lots or on the trails, so we turn back around. They tend to be small enough that if you take a quick run you're back to one of the surrounding highways in a minute or two. I want something further away from roads where I can just forget the developed world is out there. And where the kid can run without getting run over o0;
No ponds near us that I know of, definitely no lakes. We'd have to take a short trip to get to one of the pond parks, and it's more of a bunch of open grass with a baseball diamond and swing set than a nature park.
I'm looking forward to moving south and finding some real estate that backs onto a good tract of woods, or at least has a REAL park nearby. With water. Ideally mountains too but I'm not going to be TOO picky. XD I'll settle for trees and fresh air, with a river or pond nearby. That's just too much to ask for in this county, though. The neighborhood I grew up in has a creek and a good stretch of trees leading up to the baseball park, but crime in the park and the development on the other side has always been a problem so it's not a savory place for kids any longer...
