The first one didn't catch me either, but I decided to watch episode two, since they were actually one together. then I was like 'hmm...well...yeah gotta watch another one since that should be without any stupid large plotlines with evil forces' and then I watched half of season 1.
It's with every soap, you watch a few episodes, and you get into it because you kinda know the characters better and all.
