The Socctopus, cousin of the Football Squid, is famous for its excellent handling and lift. However, they tend to get emotional, and sit around looking dejected after the game, when nobody needs them anymore. Plus, it's tough getting kicked around for 90 minutes.
Gouache on Gessoboard
I spent a long time doing prep work for this one to get the composition looking good. C&C please - let me know how I could improve him!

I guess the tentacles look fine in their sizes and such, but maybe more being in view for the viewer would be nice. It's not really necessary, your version is probably more technically correct, but I just suppose that some people have sort of an expectation of lots of tents on these kinds of creatures, kind of like how Mice don't really have huge round ears, just small slightly rounded ones, but people still expect them in pics due to the stereotype. Just a thought, I could be wrong.
I think the comp looks great! Maybe a bit heavy on the left side, but that red flag really helps balance it. :3 Maybe more foliage on the right would help, but I say why fix what isn't broke, lol. This is amazing! :D
I want to hug him. I swear you need to somehow make plushies of these guys. <3

Thanks for the crit! I also think it's heavy on the left. When I mirrored it, the "heavy" side looks even heavier. I'm having a tough time balancing all the compositional stuff - I wanted his eye to be 1/3 of the way across.
I'd love to do plushies... got any recommendations for plushie-makers?
