He is wonderful. A nifty creature. As for improvement...more obviously placed tentacles I suppose? It's all I can think of.

Thank you, for the suggestion too. By 'more obviously placed,' d'you mean that they're sorta squishy and skinny? Or that they're hard to see?

I guess the tentacles look fine in their sizes and such, but maybe more being in view for the viewer would be nice. It's not really necessary, your version is probably more technically correct, but I just suppose that some people have sort of an expectation of lots of tents on these kinds of creatures, kind of like how Mice don't really have huge round ears, just small slightly rounded ones, but people still expect them in pics due to the stereotype. Just a thought, I could be wrong.

Ah, OK! I see what you mean. Most of this guy's tentacles are hidden, and he'd definitely look more octopus-y if more were showing. Like in front, where it's just boring grass.

Thanks for the crit! I also think it's heavy on the left. When I mirrored it, the "heavy" side looks even heavier. I'm having a tough time balancing all the compositional stuff - I wanted his eye to be 1/3 of the way across.

Soccer has corner flags. I didn't think about how it'd look to people who aren't familiar with soccer (doh!)

I LOVE IT! My only crit is my eye is really drawn to that arm out front, it seems really sharp and dark. but that's IT and it doesn't really take away from it. this is soooo cute :<

Thanks! That arm really is high-contrast... I probably should have toned it down to keep the eye focal. I struggle with balancing using light to my advantage and using it realistically.
