My Chainmaille Dragon
I was wandering FA and saw an ad about
serenfey offering chainmaille dragons. I was wondering if I could do it. I looked on the internet and found M.A.I.L, the Maille Artisans International League, and they had a dragon keychain pattern. So I went to Ring Lord and got some aluminum rings and some red enameled aluminum scales. This was the result. It took me about 5-6 hours of weaving to do. I had to teach myself Byzantine, Half Persian 3 in 1 (both left and right leaning), boxweave and then some guesswork to connect the head to the body. And hey, it came out pretty good. It's made out of 18G 3/16" and 1/8" bright aluminum rings and small red scales.
Update: Added a few more rings and some extra links to the tail. Originally, the whole piece was about 10" long from keyring to tailtip. This new one's just over 14". Added a few weaves of Byzantine to the thick part and a few weaves of 2 in 4 to the short part. Press F5 to see the new longer version.
