this is honestly the fifth time i've been working on a devil
this one's legit though. the other two times i had no idea what i was doing. no element of this mask is going to be a new process, and plus i think i'm getting better at sculpting!
i have a fantastic devil mask that i got online, i repainted it, added hair and some gloss to the skin... it looks great, but it's slightly too small for my head and so it gets really uncomfortable! i figured since i was going to be resculpting it i could improve on the cheap, mass-produced quality of the store-bought thing. while i'm at it, i have the opportunity to bend the mask more toward my tastes.
this face is going to be glued on to a separate head/ear/horn hood, then i could theoretically make variations on both and mix and match if i ever want to go that route. it's very asymmetrical right now because i'm having trouble deciding how realistically detailed i want him to be! I think I'm going to err on the side of realism, at least for this one. Who knows, it might be fun to do a really cartoonish version and be able to switch between the two! i also wanted to make a goaty baphomet type face but i'll just cross that bridge when i come to it. who knows if i'll ever finish this thing. it's fun to work on, though!
i'm going to cast it in the monster makers mask latex, but i'm hoping i can eventually get it done in foam latex, which is so much more comfortable and breathable than just the regular shit.

Two. One which I made a long time ago when I was first trying my hand at rubber masks. One was a prosthetic, which was badly constructed and wasn't flexible in the right spots and kept coming unglued, and the other was a modification of a mask I liked and bought online. The prosthetic got used a couple of times, but it didn't look as good as I'd hoped, I haven't wanted to recast it. I still have the mask mod, I really like it! It's super tight and skin-jabby around the eyes and in the corners of the mouth. I'd like my mask experience to be as un-skin-jabby as possible!
I will throw money at you if you cast this in foam latex.
So much money.
I wonder if the mask you're talking about (I know which it is but don't remember where to find it anymore) would fit me well. Never did get a chance to try it out. Wouldn't really hurt to spend and find out anyway.
But I will still buy the hell out of this if you make many castings.
