Dergy, Nim and Ruga on one of their EBS missions on "Earth" in the jungles of "South America" studying the married relationship between Giant Tethican Leaf Cutter ants, Titan Mushrooms and Cap Hares (slug like aphids). The three species have a very intricate triangle relationship involving radiosynthesis. Adult ants depend almost entirely on a form of energy conversion called radiosynthesis, involving the absorption of radiation from Titan shrooms and other organisms. They also feed on the irradiated "honey dew" of Cap Hares of which they herd and care for. Adult ants also eat fungus that they farm underground on harvested leaves and plant matter. Tiger Leg Leaf Cutters will viciously protect their Cap Hares from predators and never eat them. These Tiger Legs however have adopted to the "dear enemy phenomenon" and are not aggressive towards intruders into their territory unless intruders show signs of hostility or have left previous chemical "wanted" imprints in the territory. EBS students wear a musk (scentless to everyone but the ants) that confuses the ants and makes them believe they are part of the nest. Cap Hares also are almost entirely dependent on radiosynthesis for their food source, but also eat rotting fungus or plant debre that the ants feed to them. They will also forage close to the base of their mushroom homes but never wander far. In turn, the ants and aphids consume the radiation from the mushrooms that the giant fungus absorb from the ground and average rain fall, recycling radiation for habitat to naturally or artificially respawn.

All EBS students who travel to Earth on their studies take a Nanomeds vaccine, which provides a vigorous shield against over exposure to radiation. Tethicans however have some natural defense against specific levels of radiation. For a Tethican to linger too long in a Titan zone, or also known as a "mushroom bon fire" without Nanomeds however can result in cell burning. Titan Mushrooms and various radiation resistant or radiation cleaning species of plants and animals were released during the first Tethican Project as a means to "clean up" the mess that humans had left behind on the "Earth". Using "Spore Bombs" The Tethicans spore bombed various site locations on Earth with successful biological reactions. The Titan Project was introduced before the Vectors Project, another Tethican program. Both projects eventually led to much controversy with UEGAD (United Earth Galactic Aerospace Defense) and AGA (The Agency of Galactic Affairs).
