This is what happens when you put me in a position of power in a setting; I create grim characters in positions of power. In a setting, I guess. I figure that no one else in the Guild is going to be too keen on being antagonistic and all; so I'm happy to handle the darker side of the Guild and the world in general. Cynicism is such fun.
Name: Jack Cassidy
Age: 41
Gender: Male
Family: Father: Tychus Cassidy
Mother: Marian Cassidy
Brother: Robin Cassidy
Wife (Deceased): Veronica Vimes
Daughter: Daisy Cassidy
Species: Mightyena
Ability: Intimidate: With his menacingly muscular frame and reputation for unscrupulous behaviour, Jack is sure to make most think twice about trying to pick a fight with him; or at least give them an extra fleck of hesitation to their actions towards him; something Jack is more than happy to capitalise on.
Type: Dark
Team: N/A
Rank: Guild Master
Height: 6’7” (2m)
Weight: 363lbs (155kg)
Hair Colour: Black
Fur/Skin Colour: Standard Mightyena fur colouring; although Jack bears some tattered clumps of fur and many scars.
Eye Colour: Hazel
Personality:
Jack is typically a rather miserable man; left embittered by his experiences and particularly hit hard by the loss of his wife; and is typically fairly antagonistic in his actions towards his comrades. However, he does have a lighter side; taking considerable satisfaction in proving his masculinity every chance he can; and enjoys friendly competition whenever it’s available; and can be fairly amiable when in a good mood or tipsy.
Unlike the general concept of the Guild Masters, Jack is far from noble; quite comfortable with using underhanded methods when available and overlooking others for the sake of profit for himself. Despite his position he has little care for the Guild due to the cost his status brought upon his family; but he does his job regardless and does quite an impressive job; always making sure to get the job done regardless of what it consists of; typically being left to do the dirty work for the Guild’s hierarchy… much to his personal disgust.
Interests:
After the loss of his wife Jack has hit quite the dead-end in his life; believing himself to have essentially lost everything. Thus, many of his evenings are simply spent drinking or training; his hobbies having been lost following his crisis. Not that the Mightyena is totally a lost cause, though; as he has recently found some solace in keeping the team’s machinery and the like in a good state; his experience with many such mechanical problems allowing him to take up such an important but calm duty in the Guild outside of his usual place of power.
Outside of hobbies, though; Jack’s favourite things in life are cigars, cider; and money. The first two are obviously products of his attempts to hold back his depression; but the latter has more to it than meets the eye. While it may seem that Jack’s interest in profit is simply selfish; the Mightyena actually wants such an income in order to support his much beloved daughter; and keeping his sole child in the best state possible is really the only reason Jack is even still working in the Guild.
Biography:
Jack was originally brought up overseas in Unova; as his name suggests; but soon after finishing his high school went to work as a mechanic procuring funds for something of an around the world trip; a common goal for such young adults. Upon finally getting onto his trip, however; after only a few stops he ended up on the Isle del Luna in between planes; and had his trip cut short by the interruption of an attempted heist in the hotel he was residing in. His determined and practical nature soon cut in front of his common sense; and thus he made his move; taking on the criminals involved despite their armaments and his slightly tipsy state (or more likely because of).
Despite the odds Jack succeeded in distracting the rogues with his brawling and insulting until the Guild arrived to deal with the problem; seeing as the police were rather hard-pressed at the time with different matter. Impressed by his tenacity, the Mightyena was offered a place in the Guild’s ranks; but he had to refuse it in order to continue his journey around the world.
But the canine’s destiny refused to let him continue to try and stick by his trip; as whilst on the five-day stop at the island a certain Arcanine girl caught his eye; and he soon fell in love. Unable to leave the female behind Jack finally gave up on his trip; deciding to stay with his crush on the isle. With no job or place to stay he decided to join the Guild after all; soon proving his worth as he soared up the ranks with his earlier exampled determination and fearlessness.
With his streak of amazing luck (and hard work, of course) coming to a pinnacle as he gained the position of one of the Guild Masters of the time’s Apprentice, Jack had his life perfectly in order. Now married to the girl of his dreams; the Arcanine Veronica from the land of Orre; he was set for life. Of course; the world was never going to let such a grand lifestyle go so unchallenged. As Jack finally became a Guild Master at the age of 37 he soon found himself in a horrific situation; as during a mission with his beloved, now also a member; he found himself ambushed by one of the first rogue teams of the time; who knew all too well of his obvious weakness. Making their mark on the leader’s morale by ending his love’s life; Jack was utterly crushed; his once near perfect life soon collapsing around him.
From then on Jack has never recovered from his loss; with bitterness and guilt taking control of him during his oncoming middle-age. While he is still a Guild Master he finds himself disgusted by the organisation; as due to his newfound ruthlessness he has been saddled with leading and dealing with much of the Guild’s dark side; the operations and actions that the rest of the Guild wants to keep quiet. Despite his dislike of his position, however; the Mightyena continues on; both because he believes that in the end someone has to do the dirty work for good to prevail; and because he simply wants to keep his last connection to Veronica; his daughter Daisy, in the best life possible; well away from the horrors he has experienced.
Appearance/Clothing:
Jack is quite the huge man; his years of training and fighting having given him a truly menacing structure; his muscular body and hundreds of scars making sure that people know not to mess with him; less they’re looking for broken bones. His low, husky baritone makes him even more threatening; his years of smoking having taken their toll on his lungs.
Generally the canine is found in whatever gear he can throw on in hurry; his wardrobe generally being made up of dusty and tattered old jackets, trousers and shirts that he’s been wearing for years; generally in shades of brown, black and red; although all of their hues have dimmed over the years. However, while the rest of his outfits are generally fairly dull the Mightyena is almost always found with a black ten-gallon hat on; which he had since he was only a teen. It has long become tattered and ragged from the years he’s had it; having earned its fair share of bullet holes and scratches; but Jack stands by his beloved old hat regardless of its condition.
Likes: Drinking, Challenges, Brawling, Money, Joshing
Dislikes: The Guild, Eloquence, Complaints, Dependence, Studying
Strengths:
Jack didn’t earn his position on luck alone; nor has he kept it and his life through similar coincidence. Built like a brick wall and able to hit like a train; when this Mightyena gets into a brawl he’ll be the one on top; with years of experience under his belt and a truly intimidating size and strength to back him up. While his fighting certainly isn’t pretty or technical; there’s no arguing that it gets the job done. To top off his strength is his ruthless and violent attitude; which only make the canine more of a threat.
His pragmatic approach to dealing with problems may not be ethical, but it is certainly effective; as his ease with fighting dirty can often put him on top; and his intellect when it comes to making the most of a situation can often be quite startling for those who pin him as dumb muscle. Also, Jack may be brutish on the field but outside of it he is fairly calm and cool-headed; typically avoiding having his emotions get in the way of his goals. And despite his grim personality and bitterness towards the Guild, Jack is still loyal to the end to his comrades; and is still certainly fighting the good fight even though his means of doing so are often less than moral.
Weaknesses:
Jack might be a fine fighter in close-quarters, but at range he has little to work with apart from the revolver he usually keeps on hand; and most of the time that’s just for show since the Guild frowns upon fatal treatment of criminals and rogues. His endurance makes fighting of any sort a trial regardless; but with enough time and effort he will go down so long as one keeps out of arms’ reach. He also doesn’t do so well against speedier foes; since his size makes him quite a big target and a bit of a slow one in comparison to more lithe fighters.
Of course, the Mightyena’s greatest weakness is his emotional side; as it is all too easy to incite anger or depression in the canine if one knows about his past love; and given his blunt nature there’s few that don’t anyway. His belief in getting the job done above being ethical or the like also makes him easily manipulated into falling into being cruel or crude in his methods; and his soft-spot for smoking and drinking leave him in a less than brilliant physical and mental state for the most part; although his tolerance to both is quite impressive.
Moves:
Howl: Nothing quite gets Jack pumped for a brawl like a good old feral howl; and thus upon getting the chance to let out his species’ signature call the Mightyena gets a bit of an confidence booster for whatever he’s taking on; and in a struggle every little bit counts.
Roar: On the flip-side, nothing gets a pokemorph unnerved for a brawl like a canine roar; as the tone hits a typically repressed instinct to flee; and an instinct that most can’t resist due to how attuned to such threats their species once was; and Jack is all too happy to exploit this natural flaw.
Taunt: As a brawled Jack considers it to be simply traditional to back up his pummellings with some right and proper fighting words; not only for the ego-boost and sometimes challenge it brings but also the fact that an angry foe is a predictable foe. Courtesy of Jack’s experience his wordplay generally sets his foes up to just take the fight to him and avoid using their non-aggressive abilities; a style that suits Jack just fine.
Sucker Punch: Jack is well known amongst the Guild’s members for his pragmatic approach to combat; and this move is really proof of that. On top of his already fearsome strength and talent in brawling the canine is all too happy to go for cheap shots whilst in a fight; since honour and the like are qualities that mean very little to him.
Leer: While the gaze of a Mightyena is always a frightful sight; if that gaze is produced by a man built like a brick wall with a reputation for being ruthless in dealing with his foes it tends to be somewhat amplified. Regardless, the effect is the same; those left under the impression of such a threatening glare are typically unnerved by the attention; leaving their attempts at defending themselves flustered and often ineffective.
Crunch: While Jack prefers to fight with his fists he certainly isn’t known for sticking to such basics; and thus using his species’ naturally powerful jaws to aid in a fight is certainly not an act he’s above in any way. And with his size in mind he can certainly pull off quite a bite; although he typically finds his foes rather distasteful.
Strength: Jack’s frame is not just for show; as his muscular build belies his immense strength; which is only bolstered when this move comes into play; allowing him to deal with just about anything so long as brute strength is a choice when it comes to deal with the obstacle in question.
Snarl: Similarly to Jack’s other intimidation moves, with Snarl he punctuates a blow with another of his species’ natural verbal warnings; likely demoralising them in the process courtesy of their instincts.
Payback: Being a veteran in brawling and all sorts of close combat encounters; Jack certainly knows how to punish any foe who is skilled or just lucky enough to get a blow in; countering whatever managed to puncture his defences with a swift attack in retaliation; typically with added power behind it to make sure he teaches his enemy a lesson about offering such resistance.
Frustration: The fury of such an embittered and emotionally scarred man such as Jack is truly something to behold; and swiftly flee after doing so. When the typically calm Mightyena finally loses his restraint on his temper most know to stand out of the way; since picking a fight with someone with a newfound intent to kill is generally a poor life choice.
Take Down: Another signature of Jack’s brawling style is his willingness to throw his weight around; along with anyone within arms’ reach. With his immense strength and size in tow the canine certainly isn’t something one wants to come crashing down on oneself with for an elbow slam or curb-stomp; nor is he someone you want to have given motivation to throw people around too with his usual unscrupulous attitude.
Retaliate: While not considered one to be likely to stick his neck out for his friends given his usual ruthlessness Jack is in fact quite the loyal friend to have when push comes to shove; and takes it upon himself to keep his comrades safe. Should any of them be knocked out while he’s about he will typically be quick to dish out some retribution; aided by his typically restrained but certainly powerful temper which is easily sparked by matters of allies’ suffering.
Torment: With some decent effort to kick his intimidating attitude into gear Jack can generally turn people off of thinking of trying the same trick twice by putting on the façade of having been barely affected by a move; although unsurprisingly heavier blows will generally force him to stagger from the hit.
Thief: Unsurprisingly Jack is all too happy to exploit anything he can upon his foes’ person; and has gotten quite skilled in lifting things off of his targets be he in a fight or outside of one; even though most would think it’d be easy to spot a six and a half foot tall canine hanging about them.
Scary Face: Like with Leer with this move Jack just uses his intimidating stature to put off his foes; in this case the fear involved generally being built in less of an energetic manner as to fluster foes and instead in a more slowly threatening manner as to paralyse his foes through their mental strain and leave them open to his slower and stronger strikes.
