When a snake ingests its food, it needs to unhinge its jaws in order for the unfortunate creature to pass on through. After fully engulfing the animal, the jaws are still unhinged, and the snake needs to, literally, yawn to re-align the bones correctly. I happened to snatch a picture of that happening through my webcam (note the cruddy quality).
