Zack, is renowned as a soldier for his remarkable skills, one of 'em being his swordsmanship. Amongst his fellow brethren of Ulfheðnir, his sword is characterized as being the only one whose archetype is Shirasaya, and therefore being the one with the least range of them all; however, he has been able to offset this handicap through the use of several sword styles, although he is mostly known for being a master of the -Immovable Ice- sword style.

This style advocates energy efficiency and calls for guards and parries very close to the user's body, this is done to minimize the exposed body zones and maximize the chances of counter attack by luring the opponent into center of the combat circle.

While the other styles advocate a philosophy of survival through victory, Ice's philosophy relies on victory through survival.

The users of Ice must be able to remain highly focused during battle while still be able to be aware of their surroundings; they must also be able to have excellent footwork for they need to keep changing their center of gravity within the confined space of their limited range of attack.

Its main weakness is the lack of range once engaged in combat.
