Sometimes one shot characters have more lasting power than the actual main cast. I wonder why that is.

The Bronies take this to the extreme, y'know the pony with sunglasses I often draw? Her total screentime can be counted in seconds and she has no lines whatsoever, yet she may just be one of the more popular characters.... I think its just, with a main character, you know a lot of about them, but with side characters, a lot are left to the imagination.

Also, creators, espscially mainstream ones, have more fun with side-characters cus they don't HAVE to make them relatable, they can have very strong personalities and believe in downright unlikeable ways sometimes. Like Luna, she's been away for so long she hasn't quite realized that traditions have changed, so she speaks like someone from a reinessance faire, insist on using the royal "we" and says things in a LOUD SCARY VOICE BECAUSE APPRENTLY THAT IS HOW ROYALS WHERE SUPPOSED TO TALK. Because of that ,and cus she used to be a villian, she has a tendency to scare the crap out of the other characers.

I suppose that makes sense... More extreme characters can be amusing every once or twice, whereas regular characters have milder personalities so they can be more tolerable. Is that right?
