And it places it in the grass directly in front of you

inviting you to get a running start and … punt the Football of Happiness into the Distance of Achievement (or something, this metaphor is quickly unraveling)

So you back up and dash forward with all your strength

and Life yanks the Football of Happiness up and away just as you reach it

and you end up facedown in the dirt

cursing everything
