This is Trouper, an adorable raccoon I met while I was in Florida.
When Trouper was a little baby, a group of men found him on a golf course...and they beat him nearly to death with their golf clubs. Because of this, he suffered brain damage - he is blind, he can't smell, he can't climb, and he can't feel with his front legs.
But a lovely lady in Florida named Dorothy Lee is taking good care of him now. He is an official "animal ambassador", and travels with Dorothy (or Miss Dot) to teach children about wild animals, and the proper ways to help them when they are in distress.
Here is his official website!

He really is a cutie, although I honestly wish life had treated him better at the start.
I don't know who those men with golf clubs were, but if there is any justice in this world, they'll get what's coming to them. Seriously, how (and why) do you do that to a baby raccoon...?

Aww he's so adorable. Poor thing i don't know how any one can be so creul and beat a helpless defenseless animal. It makes so freakin mad! I hope who ever those guys were i hope they got what's coming/came to them. They should be beaten with golf clubs and see how they like it.
I'm glad he's doing ok and glad he's found a good and loving home and humin to take care of him. Good on you Dorothy! :)
Cute photo.

I did actually once here of a Darwin Award winner who survived "winning." All you have to do to win is to remove yourself from the gene pool, and he managed to get himself dragged along a patch of highway naked. The doctors ALMOST managed to save his "bits," but an onset of gangrene finished them off.
If I recall correctly, it involved a bridge and some exposed rebar.
One of my personal favorites is the guy who wanted to go bungie-jumping, but didn't want to buy the expensive and proper cords or spend money on a bungie-jumping group, so he bought a whole bunch of bungie cords and very carefully measured the distance from a bridge to the ground beneath it, and then very carefully made a bungie cord of exactly that length from the cords he had before jumping off to test his cord. See any potential problems with this?

Wow.. Just.. Knowing there are people out there that would actually do anything of the sort is.. I just hope they really do get whats coming to them.
But it's also good to know there are people who would take care of him, and am glad he now has a good home, and what their doing to teach people not to do things such as this. Sad to think anyone would need to be taught, though..

Yeeees!! x3 I love it when I get to see them. I know they'd come to my house at night if I left food outside, but I wouldn't want to risk my sister's cat getting bit or something. o.o Even though they're not usually aggressive like that, you never know! I have heard stories or them killing cats before. :<
...Either way, they're still adorable fluff balls! xD

I know...I feel like they have absolutely no feelings, because, like you said, they know what pain feels like themselves. Can't they imagine that the raccoon, or any animal, would feel the same thing?
That's how I feel when I see an animal in pain, I think it's why seeing a gory animal injury makes m queasy - I imagine it as if it had happened to me. Don't these people understand that pain and fear is the same for all animals/humans?
I am glad, too. He has a great life now. :D

Who could beat such a cute little face like that, and as a baby no less! XP Its quite simply atrocious! Aside from all the little guy's handicaps, its good to know he's been living a well taken care of life ever since. =3
Also i near cracked up when i saw someone here thought you were the old lady! XD

Well i can figure someone who's never seen you before might accidentally make that mistake like he did, but then again come on, is there anyone really That old who would have an account here! XD And if there is....my bad...
Anyway like i said before it is awesome the little guy's safe and loved! =3 I once saw a little Raccoon come up to my car door while me and
IsabellaPrice where sitting in the car late at night eating Jack-In-The-Box!
He actually came up to the passenger side after a short little while of being unsure if he should, and slapped some fries out of Isabella's hand as she offered it to him! XD he came back a second later and almost climbed in the car but because i moved just a tiny bit to see him better, he got scared and left for the night. XP
I only got a tiny peek at him, i wish he wasn't so scared! XD

Very true, and surprisingly enough i have another recent raccoon story! X3
just Saturday night me and
IsabellaPrice went to watch the 3 stooges late(second day in a row! XD Seriously, watch that movie! XD) and we got out after 1am! As we walked outside there are little areas with bushes and we saw a little raccoon crawling around. But we both noticed something was wrong with his little tail! As if it was ripped off mostly.
Luckily she had a brand new kit kat, so we lured him over and he loved it! X3 he was kinda shy, but eventually trusted us enough to come right in front of use, behind a small barred fence, and take the little candy from my hand! X3
He stayed around a bit hoping we had more food but sadly we didn't. We couldn't figure out what was wrong with his little tail but i noticed he was limping on his hind right leg. it didn't look messed up, but it did obviously hurt him since he wouldn't stand on it and limped if he walked on it. He was cute though, and i hope he does well out there. but there you have it! XD
