Sadie Lioness calls out across the facility, checking in with the other local lions. The Center calls such vocalizations "oofing" -- and our lions often "oof" for visitors during tours. 21 lions all roaring together makes for a memorable experience, especially when you're standing only feet away.

I'll dig in the backlog. I know I have one of her somewhere. :) Haven't had time to take many photos lately, I'm sorry to say. Just too busy when I'm on site. But I'm always hoping to get more good images of that entire pride, since Mufasa's MY boy ... so his girls are, well, my girls by default. (Hey, does that make us lion in-laws?)
All of us are family. Anyone who loves those guys as much as we do is family. Mufasa never comes to visit me. Kim explained it to me that I am supposed to give him treats first. I felt bad I didn't think about it or I would have. I kind of go backwards from the pride rules I guess. I try to catch Ugmo first since she tries to stay out of the way of the big girls when they get treats. They are all so sweet and adorable.
*grins* I'm Kim, by the way. I was wondering if you were who I was thinking you were. :) Mufasa's perfectly happy to let the girls get treated without him; he seems to understand that's the way it works. But the way into the boy's heart is to give him a respectful first dibs, or at least first offer that he can ignore or turn down. And no reason for you to know that in advance. I didn't! :)
I'm glad you're taking care of Ugmo. She has another adopter who loves her, too. Probably the most friends she's every had in her long lion life!

Not the best, but this is one that's older in the gallery. You can tell it's an early summer / late spring picture. She's shedding up a storm!
