Eyecon for
road-dogg I hope you like it! Getting that hard two-toned look in the eye was a bit of a challenge but I think I found a good balance between making it accurate and making it suit the style. c:
I'd say more, but I hardly got any sleep last night and I'm kind of bushed. XD

Actually... that's not true at all. I'm not sure where that myth comes from(I've heard it a lot), but a slitted eye doesn't mean a snake is venomous. Most(not all) colubrids have a round pupil, and as far as I know all boids have a slitted pupil. Some venomous snakes have a vertical slitted pupil, but not all. Some rear-fang venomous snakes have a horizontally slitted pupil, or a round pupil. Generally speaking, a slitted pupil is more indicative of a nocturnal animal, or a need to block out a lot of light. Since there's a real mental association between nasty critters and the dark, it makes sense that a slitted pupil would be stereotypical of a more predatory character.
Really? O_O Hmm, well, the venomous snakes I've seen DID have that...but then again none of them were the rear-fanged. Mostly ones such as rattlers, cobras, the like. Hmm but I do agree about the nocturnal animal. Either way, the slitted eye has always been rather cool looking, and also work rather well with horror creatures! :P
I can't tell if he's pissed or solemn lol
I always love the realistic touches you put in. Like the shiny part of the eyelid, that catches me every time. :) And how you've reflected the light off the surface of the eye rather than the pupil and white of the eye like a lot of artists make the mistake of doing.

I'm not sure either. I was in kind of a grumpy mood today(I didn't get enough sleep and it made me into a butt), and since AJ is a grumpy badger, I just projected my mood onto the commission. I think it worked pretty well! XD
Thanks! I spent... yeesh. Hours. I was in the bathroom every chance I got just staring at my own eyes like a weirdo. Then I looked at photos of different people and animal eyes. It's funny, I used to make that mistake all the time, where I thought that the eye was a globe and light just bounced off of the surface. Really, the iris is more of a meaty metallic dish, the pupil is a shiny black hole, that's all set into the eyeball itself which isn't quite round, and there's like... a glassy cap on the iris that reflects and refracts light. So... I dunno. It's neat what you can see when you actually bother to look, instead of guessing. I'm so guilty of guessing.

Ahhh yeah your emotions tend to reflect in art. XD But in this case it's a good thing you were grumpy.
HAHAHA XD were you pulling your eyelids and stuff? That just sounds... hilarious. A lot of artists do that oddly enough. You'd think that if they looked (or touched) their own eyeball they'd figure it out. Well maybe only weird people touch their own eyeballs (me) without having to put in contacts or whatever.

I was just standing there. Staring at my own eyes. Usually with one eyebrow raised and a really determined look on my face. My boyfriend was like "What the hell are you doing in here? Creepy weirdo. If you're plucking your eyebrows again I swear I'mma give you an ass kicking. >8I "
YES, YES, SNAKEY-EYES BADGER!
...I think I just made up my own Wild West name there. Seriously, you did such a good job, especially getting the two-toned iris in there. I know, it was a weird stylistic choice for a character. And I seriously love the fur detail. YOU ARE MY FAVOURITE ARTIST <3
