I....really don't know.
It's time for a re-design. Normally that means having fun but right now I'm pretty grumpy. It's not Berb's fault. Hey, check out those differmint horns. And ears! Ripped off from a sketch by Seely.
I made Berbie a bit of a chunky boy this time 'round. It'll be made more obvious when/if I finish the body. EDIT: couldn't keep my hands off it. Simplified the forehead.
I want my stuff to feel dimensional. Like it's got volume, mass, substance. Some days it feels like I can't even render without it taking a million years. Seriously, two and half hours for this? Fuck me. But enough of this gay banter! Happy Monday!

Hee. *blushes*
I've spent so many years working super-tight that it takes a lot of work to shake those habits loose. I much prefer loose and chunky painting. Gil Elvgren, Frank Frazetta, Greg Manchess, all them buggers, living and dead, that painted as if paint was cream cheese and the canvas was a thick slice of challah. I love 'em. That's where I want to get.
Ok..really love the eyes and the smile here. Oddly enough, while it doesn't look at all simian, for some reason, the eyes, smile and genteel/inquisitive seeming nature remind me of Roddy McDowell as Cornelius in Planet of the Apes. Actually...that's really who you remind me of, for some reason. I think it has to do with how polite you are and how kind hearted you seem. And floofy! omg, I want to hug :3
Hee! *hugs* Thank you, Master T', you are always so good to me. Berb isn't my "fursona", not as I understand the term, but maybe I don't know what people consider their "fursonas" to be. He's got his own personality. We share a few characteristics--what creation doesn't?--but on the occasions where I've drawn *myself* as a furry it's usually been a giraffe or wolf-thing.
I guess that's how it falls out. Had I a furry representation of myself, it'd cleave much closer to the bone, but I don't have need of such a thing these days. Berb is part wish-fulfillment, part mirror for id/superego junk, part means for getting comfortable with figures again, part weapon in the ongoing campaign to augment my tool chest. Berb's meant to be a fun fantasy play partner. I've no illusions that I'm a bipedal furry bisexual polyamorous dragosaur deep inside, but hey--I wouldn't mind playing one on TV!

Well, the Puget Sound area (not to mention British Columbia) are booming, and I, for one, will happily tout the Northwest's many virtues 'till the cows come home. Lots of gaming companies, good food, good beer and coffee, and oh, the natural splendor. It's like living in Princess Mononoke's forest.

Middle column of pages, left-hand side, the red critter there. Super-coolest among a great big pile of super-cool sketches.
You rock. Truly. You're one of the people I look at when I think of what I want to be capable of with figures. Bam. Said it. Yep. Take that!
