In between my other various projects I figured I'd whip up a quick, updated ref for my adaptation of Centaur.
I think most everyone knows what a Centaur is, so I haven't got much to say about it, other than the basic rundown of how my Centaur operate.
Tribal, but relatively peaceful in nature, they are formidable warriors but would rather solve an issue without violence, unless a threat is obvious and it's clear that diplomacy would only cause further risk and harm. Males work with females, sharing the responsibilities of both hunting and gathering, along with building and maintaining their villages, which are quite structured in comparison to most tribal races. They do tend to be a bit more aggressive and standoffish than their female counterpart, but these behaviors stem from a very strong drive to protect their families and territory. Territories can be wuite large, and can even overlap, though boundaries are still clear even in peace. Typically a tribe's leadership is spread between three of the highest-ranked members, at least one of whom is always female. Whichever tribe holds the largest territory, either through absorption of smaller tribes or simply by establishment, will hold an election between all allied tribes for a "king" of the Centaur in a region. This king is responsible for dealing with any major outsider influence that may encroach upon Centaur land, and can call the warriors of all his tribes forth to battle if the need arises, although such measures are rarely needed.
I don't own the concept of Centaur, but this adaptation is mine.
