My best shot I've taken recently and one of my favorite of all-time, this Kodak moment shows Kalisa showing her endearment for her mate Hubert. Sadly, their partnership is unable to produce cubs, but it doesn't stop their affection from showing for one another.

That is nice, 'Jani. Always found it rather interesting how lions, despite their predatory reputations can be rather affectionate and loving creatures. Even moreso than a lot of housecats, it seems. Would be neat to get to hang out with one in RL... in a friendly nature, that is.

Kalisa is getting pretty old (she's 13 I think) and she has a hormonal deficiency that causes her to have pseudo-pregnancies where she shows signs of it but is ultimately unable to become fertile. They are going to introduce a new 2 and half year old lioness to Hubert in the upcoming weeks for mating so hopefully this zoo will finally have lion cubs in its future
