I've always thought this, but haven't found a whole lot of people that agree with me.
#1 Concern for a story imo is likable characters.
People will follow likable characters even through a relatively poor story just to see what happens to them. Not that I aim for bad/lazy stories or anything <.< >.>

Well, I'll say that Drake's got balls of steel. Even tho violence against micros doesn't seem do common, just having a moody teenager with fingers the size of your body loom over you world make everyone shit bricks. XD Still, the flashback was a fun little insight! :D
