This song is fairly representative of the mood and general feel of my compositions. My musical background is centered in the tradition of Swedish story-telling music from the past 400 years or so, mixed with regular traditional Swedish folk music, combined with my love for 70s progressive rock, as well as acts such as Pink Floyd and The Cure. (Yes, I know... a rather broad mix of musical inspiration.)
However, the song is not representative in how it is being presented. Most of the music I have written were performed by the two bands I used to be in, between 1993 and 2000. There are very few recordings of good quality from the songs performed by my bands. Most songs were never recorded at all, and those who were, mainly consisted of someone holding a plastic cassette recorder at the back of the audience at noisy concerts. Mostly unlistenable, sadly.
This song is an exception, in that it was not recorded by either of my bands, but it was programmed and recorded by me, while borrowing the computer of a friend who I lived with for a few months in 1997. He had an Amiga 1200, a midibox, a keyboard and the program Octamed Soundstudio which was released on the Amiga in 1996.
I have since then never had access to a computer which could be used for recording or programming music, but hopefully that will change during the next few years, so I can make more recordings of my compositions.
I could tell you about my inspiration for this song, and what the different parts of it represent and what it is all about, but... I'd rather leave it up to each listener to experience what the music feels like for them. I hope you enjoy.
