I head on over to market and talk to Maexiks.
She's pretty cool. I'd want to feel bad for her, being basically the only mantis around at all, but it doesn't really seem to bother her. People here at least treat her better than the guy back there did to me. Jerk.
Maexiks still has trouble speaking our language clearly. Back when we could afford it I had a tutor who taught me a bunch of stuff, like mantis-talk. I'm not actually very good at understanding it and I can't speak it at all, but Maexiks always seems happy to be able to talk in her native language so I do my best to follow along.
I buy some more calligraphy ink from her while I'm here. I'm pretty sure she'd accept my family's currency out of pity, but I don't want to press that on her. I use a Fauhredn coin I had around instead.
It's a slow day so I just stay here and chat with her for a good while.

Worldbuilding is like, more satisfying than any kind of masturbation ever, ok. But just like masturbation you shouldn't do it nonstop. Worldbuilding exists to serve a story not the other way around.
