These are the Istaar I've mentioned numerous times in these postings from my fantasy story. The Istaar are the mediators of the world. Charged with the task by the younger races, they oversee and try to guide the younger races of the world towards a more peaceful future after the age of plagues (which had been brought about by unfathomable wars in the dawning days) nearly wiped the world clean of all life. However, their council often falls on deaf ears and wars and other horrors still break out between the races, often completely against the wishes and warnings of the Istaar who, when necessary, will go to war themselves when all else fails in order to reaffirm the delicate balance they try so strenuously to maintain.
