Ummm... are those wings? or back mounted, multi-angle capable plasma cannons? ( or did you opt for the longer range, detachable Ion-guns?
< and while they only pack 75 to 80 percent of the punch of a Plasma gun, they're more versatile; you can fire them underwater with only minimal shift in the spectrum emitter, they can affect creatures normally immune to heat (since Plasma is primarily a thermal based weapon), and depending on the atmosphere or planetary conditions, they can also be adjusted to fire in the higher end spectrum of light, which makes them emit a beam invisible to the naked eye.. heck of a sniper capable weapon given the right circumstances....
Ion guns would make a lousy sniper, as the ions disperse due to magnetic repulsion of each other over long range, though they are good weapons. And while you're correct about the water (though not for your reason) and effects on heat resistant stuff, your reason for underwater capability is really more of a laser thing. Also, you forgot the clear third option for sci-fi heavy weapons: the railgun!
CRUD! you're right.. it *IS* The laser based weapon that's more versatile in the water environment.. as they can shift toward the greener shade of the spectrum and thus retain damage capability;
And you are also right on the Ion magnetic repulsion.. (gotta pay more attention when my GM is talking to us about those as potential choices for our characters.. the man has a RL degree in physics and mechanical engineering and works at a local government lab here in Albuquerque, NM)
hmmm... and I wasn't actually omitting the third option.. I am VERY FOND of the Rail gun.. I was thinking more of an *ammo* angle as far as how much can be carried, VS the energy based being tied into the units power core and thus, have unlimited ammo against packing only a finite amount for the rain gun's themselves..
*giggles*
That''s something we, as gamers, DO run into.. if we take weapons that are not energy based that can be hooked into a suit of power armor's energy supply..
*FINITE shots!!* (and if we're not careful, it often runs dry during a firefight... then we have to move in close and bring up the hand to hand weapons.. which could be good and bad, depending on if we even *want* to close with whatever type foe we're facing..)
Ammo *Tracking Sheets* ... gotta love em!
Actually, I'm not even really sure what this drawing is for, I was just talking about the guns from a real life standpoint. Which game is it? And if I had a mech, I would prefer a single railgun for sniping on one shoulder, a tactical high energy laser on the other and a good sensor array for aiming it, and blades that vent plasma along their length. Stab them in, then vent plasma! The reason I like railguns so much is that with a really powerful one, its shots go fast enough to either punch through pretty much anything like with tungsten or depleted uranium shells, or explode with the force of a small nuke, like with ice or less dense stuff. Also, it can fire at variable speeds so it can act as a mortar or howitzer in addition to a rifle.
I'm surprised you like high tech stuff Sashi :3:3:3
Those are wings AND a kind of weapon that has many names, mostly referred as " funnels " or "Gun slaves"

*SNUGS you gently* in that regard hon, I cannot say how upset I am.. because it is so very good to have a place and friends to go to when one needs to stretch one's imagination and mind "muscles' toward those ends..
... and it makes for GREAT stress relief when you can blow things up, wreak immense havoc and plot the downfall of entire nations and destroy life forms just by pulling a trigger or snapping a connection..
( all from the safety and comfort of not leaving the den of your favorite gaming house, with your favorite snacks and drinks well within reach...)
