Darkness-The moon barely lighting up his view-
With a sigh the boy realized he was in fact completely lost- in his own woods no less. Talon Pulled out his blade with a hand, moving branches aside with the other trying to see the path he usually traveled but in this darkness he couldnt see a thing- the trees above blocked out any light the moon might decide to give him.
From behind him he heard a low rumbling sound, then another- and then a few more. Slowly turning Talon found himself face to face with a pack of wolves, a few of them so dark you could only see their gleaming eyes.
Fangs bared, lips curled they decided they wanted to have Talon for dinner- and brandishing his knife the boy turned to face them, ready to attempt to strike them down if they got too close.
The boy barely saw the one closest to him spring forward- the only indication was the eyes getting larger- He moved and dove out of the way as the beast hit the brush and rolled- scrambling to his feet he took off running as a few others of the pack ran for him. He was in trouble and he knew it- he knew better than to be out in the woods at night.
Attempting to swallow the fear rising within him, Talon slid and turned to face the beasts once again- slicing and stabbing at them as they leaped with their jaws open-teeth ready to find purchase in whatever skin they could find.
One of them got past his defenses and so the only thing the boy could think of to do was shield his face with his arms, with his eyes covered he didnt see it- but he heard a 'fwoosh' sound like a fire being lit- and a loud very pained whine- then a thud. heat on his arms for a mere moment.
Talon waited a little while- the strange sounds and loud whines continuing before he decided to peek out and see what was going on. In front of him he saw an older man dispatching of the beasts without a weapon, but somehow he was making fire- simply by moving his hand. Talon was perplexed.
"How are you-" However this question was cut off as one of the dying, blazing beasts hit the ground near him, and Talon dove to the ground in fright as the canine burnt to a crisp by his feet.
The older man dusted off his hands and walked over to the cowering boy- looking down at him just as perplexed it would seem. "You can stop hiding now... they're all gone."
Cautiously Talon removed his hands once again from his hands and looked up at the man who saved him, albiet with very strange methods. The man simply seemed to smile down at him. "How did you do that?!" He replied getting up to his feet. "are you some sort of demon??"
"Hahaha! of course not!" His savior laughed. Talon didnt seem convinced. And the older man cleared his throat. "come on- we should have that looked at.."
The boy had no idea what he was talking about- and the man pointed to Talon's right arm where long bloody scratches were from one of the wolve's teeth finding his arm. Talon was confused- he didnt remember getting that, and it doesnt hurt, despite the fact that the blood is dripping to the ground near his feet.
The older man simply smiled again. "come on-" He said putting a hand gently on the boys other shoulder and nudging him a bit. "My house is just over here."
Talon was confused. "whats your name?"
"Its Favian. Altar Favian. Yours?"
"Talon.."
"Bird?" Favian asked looking at him inquisitively.
"No!" The boy huffed. "Just talon..."
"Birds have Talons though.." Favian replied making a sort of claw motion with his hands near his face.
"Im not a bird!"
Favian laughed. "I know I was only teasing. No bird would go against a pack of wolves so bravely."
After a few moments Talon saw dim lights that surrounded what looked like a wooden door, that was strange, their doors were made of woven hay. The rest of the house was wooden too, very nice wood, not like thiers and their uneven branches and mud to hold it together.
Favian moved to open the door. "Come on in."
Talon stepped inside cautiously- he'd never seen anything like it. it all looked so advanced. glass windows, wooden cupboards, a rug on the floor. And what talon could only describe as a strange ticking contraption with odd symbols and arms that went in a circle. "You live here?"
"Of course I do...But secretly. No one knows im here. Well, except for you now." Favian moved to go down the lighted hallway- "In here Talon."
Talon looked around in Awe as he followed.
"How you found me I'll never be able to comprehend."
"I didnt...I was lost."
"And now you are found."
Talon smiled. And Favian directed him to have a seat, They were in a study it seemed, the dark mahogany desk over to the one side, and shelves full of strange square things, and other things Talon had never seen before. The boy looked at favian as he walked back in with a box. "How did you do that?"
"Hm? oh you mean the wolves?" He replied as he took a seat on the floor and opened the box. "Im a mage. So I can use the elements of earth however I want."
Talon didnt seem to understand. "So...you could...make a forest fire? or huge waterfall?? Or make the sky light up??"
"Sure if I really wanted to-"
"Can you teach me?"
Favian looked up at Talon for a few moments. And the boy was too excited and oblivious to see the saddened look in his eyes- Favian looked away. "If you would like me to."
Talon grinned. "YES!"
"But- you have to listen to everything I say. you have to do as I say. and not question me or talk back. You must be respectful of life, and of me and Everyone, including yourself. You are not allowed to abuse my teachings for your own benefit."
Talon nodded. "As you wish Master Favian!"
Master Favian? The older man wasnt sure if he liked hearing that.
Too many bad memories.
