As a young colt, Khaos Divided's lack of color symmetry caused him to be teased at school. One bullying incident pushed him to try fleeing back to his home, Cloudsdale. In Khaos's frantic state, he instead took off in the direction of the Everfree Forest where he collided with a tree, ripping his wing from its socket. Khaos's painful blood loss drove him into unconciousness. He came to in the home of Everfree resident Zecora the Zebra. Zecora told him he would never fly again. Upon seeing another creature as irregular as himself, he found a sense of comfort and happiness in his asymmetrical shape and even took his lack of flight as of little consequence to him. He decided that flight was a typical behavior for pegasi, and therefore boring. His cutie mark appeared at that moment, signifying disrupting "typical" behavior as his calling.

To this day, Khaos is known for his pranks, spontaneity, and random, impulsive actions.
