my strangest character design to date, Fleshstrip.

exactly what it says on the tin. weird flailing strand of muscle(?) on something only vaguely resembling legs.

(still feeling tempted to make some kind of bestiary blah)

Seems like the same category of monster as the purple lipped blob or the "elephant bones," which were two elephant tusks that walked like a drawing-compass and had a trail of smaller bones tumbling along behind.

The legs make me think of those extremely elaborate portraits of Louis XIV, with his baggy pantaloons and high-heeled boots.

Seconding (thirding?) the dream imagery thing. This is very similar to a nightmare character I had when I was 7. Utterly terrifying on some deep existential level.
