I want to draw/write a story for my friend because he's been a little down lately.

Please help me I have no idea what to do lol I was thinking something uplifting or cute :)

You should probably consider a book that goes deep into his emotions, maybe how you feel about your friendship and etc., and then put it into a cute scenario.

Do like all the things that make him special to you like example

"I love it when you're just around to talk on the phone about silly stuff for hours on end."
and then draw the 2 of you on the phone.
