Yech! I remember that unique stink of school lunch 'meat' that grossed me out so much. I wasn't exposed to that disgusting crap until the school handed the lunch room over to a private contractor, because you know private companies can do everything better than public employees. As part of the deal the school forced everyone to buy the inedible garbage the company doled out. Hooray for corporate welfare. Anyway, in order to eat a healthy lunch you had to have a religious or medical excuse, store your lunch in a locked cabinet in the school office, and eat your lunch in the office with the school office ladies. The corporate welfare 'lunch' was so disgusting I suddenly became kosher, at least for the purpose of school lunch. I loved eating my kosher Boar's Head ham & cheese hoagie in the office and it kept me out of the queue tunnel where so much bullying took place and away from the vomitous 'meat'.
Years later I was at the same school for an athletic event and caught a whiff of that stink. It made me physically ill. I ended up hiding under the bleachers and nearly barfing. Disgusting food stink flashbacks are terrible!
