He opened his eyes, and screamed. The scales had covered his entire body, only few bastions of skin remained unchanged, but they were shriking with every passing second. Cascades of pain rushed through his legs- as his bones, muscles and flesh melted as they formed a tail complete with piscine fins.
His anatomy warped, and by now he’d lost all of his hair and teeth for that matter. From his back, a great dorsal spine broke from his spinal column, built for water traveling… yet he remained on land.
He knew he need water, before his lungs stopped working. The small “cuts” on his neck suddenly opened, flaring in pain. They were trying breathe, and needed the water to do that. He began to crawl, as the sun threatened to cook him alive.
He didn’t think of his shorts becoming a tattered mess as his fins and warping body shredding it. He didn’t think of his feet becoming a single fin, his hands being claws, or the webbing that arced over his body.
Spots took over his eyesight, blotting out the light. As the world blurred and his lungs screamed for air, he felt the water escape him. The roar of a wave crashing replaced his fear, and he reached out for it. He needed water, and as the tide came to greet him, he thought of nothing else.
