Well. I wanted to work on Miku's design but Waan stole my attention. Annoying skin colour that's hard to not make green... but I want the offworld elves to be grayish. and I get this whole thing about shape language and I try to use it, but that's not the same as getting their individual proportions right (and by right I dont mean correct). I think I want them funny. Waan is a fun person, should be drawn fun - that's my logic. Waan had some boots IIRC at some point, maybe they should be back, though ey doesn't wear them all the time (jacket and shoes too).
I'm in this weird state of mind where I'm relieved that I got my application done but stressed and afraid to check my mailbox and find another rejection letter.
I learned so much about drawing the past few months, it's typical... and now I wanna do stuff. And also I got a commission to work on, and I'm getting all nocturnal about drawing again xD I shouldn't. What else... oh yeah, Rengokuy and I joked around about me doing some art critique so I guess I can do that over livestream for people. Idk. Priorities
speaking of priorities, I dunno why I draw this so meticulously when I ACTUALLY want to model it, however sometimes I can only see how to get the overall shape right AFTER I get some values and detail in there. Actually this is a good time to hit the references for body ideas, but not at 3AM D: haven't drawn elves in static poses in forever, ahhahahah. When I doodle them they work better because their poses are in movement, but like this, things never look like themselves - or at least the forms work out differently. I work this weird way where I go back and forth between silhouette and lineart/sketch, and end up tossing the lines because they're much uglier - but were instrumental in making the painted silhouette clear. I had a brief experiment drawing them as 7 heads tall but that didn't feel like me, or them.
edit # updated now with much more detail and both characters rendered in. Began 3D process of Waan
