During my move I was practicing patterning in my sketchbook, specifically that of the marbled-cat. 　I have so many boxes of stuff I rather not even think of that at the moment #_#, so I scanned this in instead. Paleo and Ling were my test subjects. Ling is a genuine marbled cat, while Paleo is a thylacoleo that looks like one (he does pattern wise at least).

I like the little head shot at the top. You miss all those marking when you got head hair.

Very true, I like drawing feral versions for that reason. And the major head markings do carry into the hair as well (at least Paleo's).

I always used to wonder if you'd see the normal animal markings if you cut back someones head fur. I gotta remember that one.

I could never really get the deal of patterning, even with a leopardskinned character! I cheated and gave her giraffe-style blotches. >.>

I absolutely love the way you pattern and draw your spots.

Being a clouded leopard I get mine drawn wrong most of the time ^^ Breath of fresh air to see something similar and so pretty.

Ling is so pretty. I love the middle sketch on the bottom row, it shows off how lithe she is as well as her beautiful hair. A lovely blend of feline and feminine.

I've also noticed the pawprint on the right with the long thumb claw. Very cool.
