Have you ever stepped on a lego brick? It's surprisingly painful.

I've stepped on them numerous times over my life and the pain is vastly overblown, I think. Or perhaps it's just that I've been acclimated to them since I was three years old and spent about as much of my childhood playing barefoot outdoors as I did indoors with toys and videogames; I'd guess my adult feet, covered in shoes for social reasons, could be considerably softer. Still, it's not like stepping on nails, bone shards the dogs leave in the carpet, twigs, broken glass, or pebbles.
