Because the idea of a wolf Link was awesome in 2005, and still is -- even when the Twilight Realm was still shown as being all greyish and devoid of color, rather than the dreamy, fuzzy golden hue you see in the final, actual game.
Inverted Crayola colored pencils (more info), took about 4 hours.
