The Huojian cruiser originated in the old Earth Navy as a long-range ballistic assault fleet vessel. Historically the Huojian was frequently used for bombarding terrestrial installations (even civilian populations), and often escorted larger fleets soley as an 'orbital bomber'. However, the Huojian cruiser was designed primarally as a heavy missile platform for ship-to-ship combat, and fared quite well in this role. Depending on the missile loadout, the Huojian can deliver swarms of rockets against fighters and smaller craft that overwhelm their defenses by sheer numbers, or the ballistic cruiser can obliterate larger vessels with barrages of torpedoes and energy missiles.
The Huojian is little more than a flying missile silo, and does not fare well in combat without support. Although some governments are weary of allowing dedicated missile craft onto the public market, the Huojian is a common vessel among freelance captains and mercenaries, popular for its immense array of missile racks capable of dishing out massive damage.
