Wanted to draw an insect, elected a Mantis; she's purple. Because it's a nice colour.

Purple is a very nice color, yes. :P As for the background, I like it. Simplistic in your eye, perhaps, but I like the simplicity. Little things like the rock, flower, and the highlight on the grass in the background make me happy.
